Masterpiece Sculpture!  Museum quality Piece!

I love the colour vanilla white.

Do you know this colour?

Warm vanilla.  Velvet and soft, rich and soothing.  White Luxury cars are almost always vanilla white, never a  brilliant stark white. Stark whites are just too jolting to the senses.

And so, the most pleasing white for an Inuit sculpture is vanilla.

Our Drum Dancer was created from an exquisite vanilla white colour of stone.

I look at this piece and I see the same white marble used in the classic Greek sculptures.

Mathewsie's carving is cosmopolitan and polished because the vanilla white marble is flawless and drapes the figure in elegance. (Mathewsie is the grandson of the late Kenojuak Ashevak)

Have you taken a close look at the face?

Even the facial features are not typical of a traditional Inuk. Is Mathewsie sending a message to the viewer?  That great art transcends time and ethnicity?

Drum dancers are passionate story tellers.  They drum and dance and sing.

Our dancer is caught in a moment in time.  A moment in which he is passing along the stories and histories of his people forever.

A moment of elation but a lifetime of pride.

You could share in the spirit of this carving every day.

We promise to send you only good things
