Kamookak's vignettes of traditional Inuit life are exceptional.

Not many Inuit artists choose to create these scenes. They require meticulous detail and a fussiness that most carvers would like to avoid.

But Moses revels in the construction of these poignant narratives.

This snapshot of an Inuit fisherman hunting seal in his kayak, tells a compelling story.

A story of a man alone on  a wild and uninviting ocean.

A story of a hunter, trained since childhood to provide food and clothing for his family by hunting seal.

A story of a centuries old Inuit tradition of fishing with spears, and knives and a single person boat.

The base of the sculpture is ridged in a fashion that represents the swirling waves of the ocean.

The fisherman sits in his kayak and is adorned with his spears, and knives.

The seal is barely ahead of the man in the kayak, swimming for his life.

This would be a lovely gift for the historian or fisherman/hunter in your family.
